HSEB's Kathmandu office asked to clarify
The 13-member Code of Conduct Implementation and Monitoring Committee formed by Higher Secondary Education Board has sought clarification from HSEB’s district office in Kathmandu after it failed to submit the detail information about Plus Two colleges that have been violating the code of conduct and operation arbitrarily.
The office had submitted incomplete information yesterday after it was given a five-day deadline. The HSEB yesterday gave two more day to the office asking it to provide the information in detail as sought by the committee.
During the committee’s meeting yesterday, officials from HSEB’s Kathmandu office had provided some information about the colleges flouting the code of conduct.
A total of 29 Plus Two colleges, including the Himalayan WhiteHouse International College, Milestone International College, NASA International College, Texas International College and British Gurkha College, were asked to furnish clarification as to why they were flouting the code of conduct. Only 12 of them had complied with the order so far.
According to Jung Bahadur Aryal, Chief of HSEB’s Kathmandu office, most of the Plus Two colleges which have submitted their clarifications have claimed that they have not violated the code of conduct.
The committee has also directed the Kathmandu office to seek clarification from rest of the Plus Two colleges and demanded action against them if they failed to abide by the order.
Meanwhile, Suprabhat Bhandari, president of Guardians Association Nepal and a member of the committee, said that the committee would not let any institution go unpunished if they are found to have been violating the code of conduct.
The committee had monitored some Plus Two colleges in the City and several colleges in various districts outside the Valley.
The committee is preparing a report in which they will also recommend action against those Plus Two colleges which have been repeatedly violating the code of conduct.
