Course Description:
Kathmandu University collaborates with the University of British Columbia on the Master of Indigenous Education and Development program. It is a one-year curriculum.
The program is tailored for individuals from various professions such as teachers, administrators, community educators, and early childhood educators who seek to enhance their professional practice in Indigenous education. This program aims to achieve the following objectives:
> Develop educators' theoretical knowledge and pedagogical skills regarding Indigenous education and knowledge.
> Examine current curriculum frameworks and structures to promote educators' comprehension of Indigenous worldviews, and enable the incorporation of Indigenous knowledge and pedagogies in respectful and responsible ways.
> Offer novel professional development opportunities that facilitate learning about and application of Indigenous pedagogies and ways of knowing. It will also guide educators on thoughtful and strategic implementation of these practices in education curricula and programming.
