SEE 2025 begins today across 2079 centers, 514071 students participating

Secondary Education Examination (SEE) has started all across Nepal from today, Thursday. This year's SEE will be held from March 20 to April 1, with examinations conducted daily from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
On the first day of the examination, students will sit for the English exam, followed by Nepali on March 21, Mathematics on March 23 and Science and Technology on March 25. Similarly, the examination of Social Studies is scheduled on March 23, the optional 1st paper on March 27, the optional 2nd paper on March 28 and Health, Population and Environment on March 31. Additionally, students studying Sanskrit, Ved Vidya and technical subjects will sit for exams according to their chosen subjects’ routines.
According to the National Examination Board, Examination Control Office for Grade 10, a total of 2079 examination centers have been designated for the SEE students. A total of 514,071 students are taking the SEE this year, including 421,585 in the regular category. As per NEB, the total number of candidates has dropped by around 2,000 compared to last year when 516,000 students appeared for the exam.
11,216 secondary schools across the country are sending students to participate in SEE.The board has deployed 77,817 personnel to ensure an organized and disciplined process. 421,585 regular students are taking the SEE this year, including 209,705 female and 211,857 male students. 75,532 students are particiating in Grade Improvement Examination . Among those taking the exam, 40,962 are female and 34,570 are male Around 16,000 students from the technical stream are also taking the SEE.
In terms of district-wise participation, Kathmandu has the highest number of SEE candidates. A total of 49,416 students from 1,015 secondary schools will take the exam across 136 exam centers in Kathmandu district. Meanwhile, Manang has the fewest SEE candidates, with only 43 students taking the exam at one designated center.
This year, the highest number of students are appearing in the SEE from Bagmati Province.108,571 students from 13 districts of the province will be sitting for the SEE in Bagmati Province. In Lumbini Province, a total of 94,905 students are appearing in the SEE.A total of 88,858 students are appearing in the SEE in Madhesh Province, . A total of 37,911 students from Karnali Province are set to participate in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE).
As in previous years, students from Japan are also taking part in the SEE examination. According to the Examination Control Office, a total of 37 students from Japan are sitting for the exam this year.
The exam serves as a crucial milestone for students, determining their eligibility for higher secondary education in Nepal.
As per NEB, preparations are being made to publish the SEE results within 90 days of the examination being conducted i.e. by June 21, 2025).
