Course Description:
Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) is an advanced level study with special focus on research activities. It aims at producing highly qualified, competitive human resources in different areas such as Curriculum, Educational Planning, Administration, Supervision and Management. Tribhuvan University, Faculty of Education (FoE) offers M.Phil. in Education with specialization in Curriculum Studies, Development Studies and Leadership Studies.
DURATION
This is a 3 semester programme out of which the first 2 semesters cover taught courses whereas the last one is meant for writing dissertation which is obligatory. It is a 32 credit hours course for the M.Ed. degree holders but it is a 36 credit hours course for those who have Master's degree in the areas other than M.Ed. The courses are divided into Core and Specialization areas as given below.

Eligibility
> Master's Degree' minimum with second division in education or in any other disciplines (recognized by Tribhuvan University).
> Two Years' work experience after the completion of Master's Degree.
> Proficient in spoken as well as written English and Computer application.
Syllabus
COURSE
In the first two semesters, the candidates have to attend the taught courses followed by a dissertation work in the final semester. The dissertation work can be carried out independently in close consultation with the academic advisor. The taught courses, their credit hours and course numbers are given below.

METHODS OF INSTRUCTION
The deliberations of the courses require candidate's active participation and serious involvement in group discussion, issue presentation, experience sharing, analysis of the issues and case studies. The academic tutors of the respective courses play a key role in facilitating the learning environment with some input as and when necessary.
The candidate's assignments, research reports, write-ups and other scholarly works are disseminated to the wider audience through the publication of the M.Phil. programme from time to time.
