Course Description:
The Department of Environmental Science and Engineering( DESE), earlier known as Department of Biological Sciences and Environmental Science, have been the leader in offering Environmental Science program in Nepal , starting its undergraduate program since 1994. Through all these years, it has been significantly accumulating experience and resources to deliver quality education and perform quality research. Faculties with diverse academic backgrounds, quest for leadership in providing best environmental studies and continuously evolving teaching-learning and research processes are its major characteristics.
Aim of the Department:
- To produce self-motivated, objective, confident, and creative graduates of highest quality with an entrepreneurial attitude
- To develop as a center of excellence in Environmental education and researches.
The academic program of the department contribute to fulfill the need of highly competitive, skilled and trained manpower in the areas of research, development, impact assessments, standards monitoring, management, conservation, legal measures, policy formulation, implementation and other relevant environmental fields . The graduate will also be competent enough to pursue higher studies in any reputed institutions. The department also pursues research relevant to local national, regional and global significance. Focus is also given to collaborative researches with national and international organizations and academic institutions.
Admission info
The candidate must have completed minimum 17 years of formal study in relevant field. A M. Sc. Degree with 50% marks in average or a CGPA of 3 or above in 4 point scale or B standing in Grades. The candidate with 16 years of formal study may also be eligible if he/she posses a minimum requirement through relevant programme of the concerned department.
Admission Procedure
The notification for admission offered by the school under the Department is published in major dailies and is in the website: http:// www.ku.edu.np seeking applications from eligible candidates any time in a year. Collection of applications is followed by an interview/test. The interview/test/presentation is aimed at testing individual's aptitude academic status and diligence in the field in which one is seeking admission and is taken by the relevant department. Temporary registration need to complete a minimum of 15 credits of courses as prescribed by the research committee.
