The Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS), Pokhara was established in 1994 following a historic agreement between His Majesty's Government and the Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG) for setting up of professional colleges and hospitals in Nepal. The 865 bed Manipal Teaching Hospital was inaugurated in 1998. The college started post-graduate programmes and the School of Nursing and Allied Health programme in the year 2000. From August 2003 onwards, the annual intake of students for the MBBS programmes was increased to 150. The students are admitted in two batches, one in January and the other in August.
The college attracts an international student presence, with students from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka and many other countries. The experienced, dedicated and full time faculty is drawn from the cream of talent available in India and Nepal. The vision of the institution is to achieve global leadership in human development and excellence in education and healthcare. Our mission is to be amongst the most preferred destinations for students and teachers of medical sciences. And not just in Nepal.
