ICT-friendly schools mooted
The government has recently endorsed directives relating to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in school education in order to create an ICT friendly environment in every school. According to the directives, Ministry of Information will manage the information, Ministry of Education will develop the teaching methodology, while other ministries will be looking after the infrastructures.
Balram Timilsaina, deputy director, Department of Education said that a Directives Director Committee has been formed under the coordination of National Planning Commission Member Shiva Kumar Rai to identify the ministries and their responsibilities to promote an ICT friendly environment in schools. The committee consists of representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Science and Technology and Nepal Telecom, he added.
NGOs and MoE in partnership with the government will prepare the necessary devices for ICT friendly teaching learning environment in schools.
