CAN Info-Tech 2014 to begin from January 2
Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) is organising the 20th edition of CAN Info-Tech from January 2-7 at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu.
The six-day “Subisu CAN Info Tech 2014” is aimed at informing the general public about the latest developments in information technology and offering new ICT products, according to CAN.
CAN General Secretary Amrit Kumar Pant said at a press meet here on Sunday the exhibition will have 221 stalls, including 39 pavilions, inside the hall, three branding pavilions outside the hall, 15 food stalls and 20 open spaces.
The event will showcase various types of laptops and mobile accessories, services offered by internet and telecommunication service providers, colleges offering Information and Computer Technology (ICT) programmes and training institutes. Services like hardware sales and maintenance, power solutions, software solutions and payment solutions will also be offered. “The event will help promote the information technology sector by providing information on latest inventions,” said Pant.
CAN Info-Tech, which has become one of the largest crowed pullers among the exhibitions that take place in the Kathmandu valley, is expected to attract more than 450,000 visitors this year.
“We are encouraged to organise such type of events as we are getting overwhelming response from technology lovers over the last 19 years, and we hope this time
also the event will provide opportunities for the technology lovers,” CAN President Binod Dhakal said .
The entry fee has been fixed Rs 100 for the general public and Rs 50 for students. Students from government schools will get free entry, provided the schools make request in advance. Prospective visitors can also buy tickets online and get a 25 percent discount.
CAN will mark January 5 as business day, during which corporate houses can make business deals with dealers and vendors. Besides, “Subishu CAN ICT conference” will also be held on January 5-6 at Hotel Yak and Yeti to formulate strategies for the development and promotion of ICT sector of Nepal.
Various national and international experts will make presentations under the theme of ‘Mobile Technology for Smart Society’ at the conference, according to the organisers. The event will also discuss issues like m-governance, m-commerce and m-payment, m-education and effects of mobile on the society.
