Nepathya for peaceful education: Education for Peace
After a five-year hiatus in national touring Nepathya is back and with the same theme they promoted during their first tour back in 2002, Shantiko Lagi Sikchya (Education for Peace). The nationwide tour has been organised by Nepa~laya, which has been collaborating with the band for over ten years now. Nepa~laya and local organisations in each of the ten cities the band will be touring are putting together the shows in indoor venues in the month of January.
The folk-rock band is promoting the theme Education for Peace for the fourth time now in a national tour. For their first edition, the band toured five places while in the last edition in 2006, they toured fifteen places advocating for harmony in the education system. “Our main voice is to make schools and other educational institutions a peace-zone. Let students study. Make educational institutions violence and interference free. Band front man Amrit Gurung will be repeating these same slogans on stage”, said Arpan Gurung from the organising team of Nepa-laya.
Nepathya Tour 2012 will commence from Hetauda on January 3 before moving on to Fikkal, Ilam on January 5, Sindhuli on the 7th, Nepalgunj on the 9th and Dhangadi on the 11th.
The band will then perform in Butwal on the 13th, Waling, Syangja on the 15th, Baglung on the 17th, and Pokhara on the 19th. The band will be concluding their tour in Gorkha at a show on the January 21.
Shows will begin at 3pm at all venues. Tickets are priced at Rs 1000, Rs 500 and Rs 300. Proceeds from the ticket sale will be given to local schools for building laboratories, sanitation facilities, libraries or for other required purposes.
