A. Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine (TU IOM) 
Tribhuvan University (TU), established in 1959, was Nepal's first university to offer medical courses. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) was founded in 1972 by Tribhuvan University with the mission and responsibility of training all types of health workers required in the country. TU offers the MBBS program and enrolls 750 students in eight medical colleges.  Scholarship seats account for 178 of the total seats available. Nepalese students can expect to pay between NPR 4,168,090 and 4,595,720 for the MBBS program.
The standards and criteria for the TU MBBS course strictly adhere to the Nepal Medical Council's requirements. The first two academic years are spent studying basic medical science, collaborating with other departments, and comparing clinical and community outcomes. Nepal takes a comprehensive approach to health and the healthcare system.

B. Kathmandu University (KU) 
Kathmandu University (KU) is an autonomous, not-for-profit, self-funding public institution established by an Act of Parliament in December 1991, dedicated to maintain high standards of academic excellence. It has also contributed significantly to the development of higher education in Nepal.

Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) is a five-and-a-half-year undergraduate program at Kathmandu University that includes a one-year mandatory internship.  The standards and criteria were established in strict accordance with the requirements of the Nepal Medical Council and Kathmandu University.
The KU MBBS program has been divided into three parts: the first two years of study consist of basic medical sciences. These years also include an introduction to clinical sciences. Over the next two and half years, students learn the principles and skills of clinical medicine by rotating through various medical specialties. The final year consists of internships.

C. B P Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS),Dharan, Sunsari
B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) was founded on January 18, 1993, and later upgraded to an autonomous Health Sciences University on October 28, 1998, with a mission to develop a socially responsible and competent health workforce, provide health care, and engage in innovative health research. The MBBS program at BPKIHS, which began in 1994, is recognized by the Medical Councils of Nepal, India, and Sri Lanka. It is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, published by the WHO.

The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) curricula at the B. P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences are intended to produce caring, community-oriented, conscientious, and communicative doctors who are well-suited to working in Nepal. There are 115 seats available in the MBBS program, divided into different schemes for Nepalese and other nationals.


D. Patan Academy of Health Sciences(PAHS), School of Medicine, Lagankhel, Lalitpur
Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) is a public, autonomous, non-profit health science university founded in 2064 B.S. (2008 A.D.) with a charter granted by Nepal's Parliament. PAHS aims to collaborate closely with the National Health System to improve health care services in remote/rural areas by, among other things, training technically competent and socially responsible health care personnel, facilitating their deployment in underserved rural areas, and providing the necessary technical and professional support while they work there.

PAHS School of Medicine runs the teaching learning activities within the complex of Patan Hospital, the tertiary care institution, upon which PAHS is founded and which provides a natural ambience for learning holistic and compassionate care.

PAHS' Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) curriculum emphasizes holistic care for the individual and community.  The PAHS MBBS curriculum employs a variety of innovative strategies to prepare students to become doctors capable and willing to address Nepal's real health-care needs. PAHS graduates who studied under a scholarship scheme are required to work in rural areas for a set period of time as part of their service obligation. The total duration of PAHS MBBS curriculum is five year and eight months.

E. School of Medicine, Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, Chandannath, Jumla
Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) School of Medicine  was established with the goal of preparing competent and self-sufficient health professionals who can care for individuals, groups, and communities in accordance with primary health care principles. KAHS offers 20 seats in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).

The MBBS course began in 2021. The degree program lasts five and a half years, with one year of compulsory internship. The first two years of the program are dedicated to basic medical science, with a focus on specialization and advanced training coming later. The standards and criteria for the course are determined by the Nepal Medical Council.
