Course Description:
The BSc (Hons) Computing programme is run in partnership with Leeds Beckett University, UK. Students studying this course will gain highly sought-after skills in computer programming, database development, networking, website development, systems modeling and computer security. This course is equivalent to Bsc CSIT and BIT in Nepal.
These are vital skills for gaining entry into organisations which demand confident and technically equipped computing graduates.
Students will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, focusing on a specialist areas of their choice, including: web technology, network and communications, database or software development.
Objectives
The objectives of the programme are to provide students with:
> practical experience and theoretical understanding of globally established techniques of analysis, design and systems development.
> a detailed knowledge of and a critical understanding of key aspects of computing, from the forefront of the discipline.
> the ability to undertake computing projects to a professional standard by the consistent application and review of development, management and evaluation methods and techniques.
> experience in co-operative working through group projects.
> professional level skills in technical and report writing, public speaking and presentation. The ability to independently undertake research and critically evaluate arguments, assumptions, abstract concepts and data.
> a wide breadth of understanding that enables them to be enterprising in devising and sustaining arguments and solving problems using innovative ideas and implementing learned techniques in a multicultural and globalizing world

Entry Requirements:
Foundation Entry
- 10+2/CBSE or equivalent 55% and above aggregate score
- A Level - Minimum 3.5 credits with 3 full credits
University Entry
- Overall 75% & above with a minimum of 70% in English or IELTS Score of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band.
Syllabus
NEW COURSE:
The degree programme is comprised of a one year Foundation Year provided by The British College followed by a three-year degree validated by Leeds Beckett University.
What is Year 0 or Level 3?
Year 0 in The British College is a Foundation Year (Certificate to be awarded by The British College) that is designed to help students progress into BSc (Hons) Computing degree. The aim of this year is to: assist students to adapt to the UK style of learning, improve students' English ability, and introduce the necessary skills required for higher education.
After the Foundation Year, students will be registered with Leeds Beckett University, the programme can be completed entirely in Kathmandu, however, transfers to Leeds are also possible for interested students.
Year 2 or Level 5 consists of 4 core, 1 elective and 1 Project Management totalling 120 credits
In Year 3 or Level 6, all students take the Production Project, with optional modules which allow students to specialise in a chosen potential career subject area. In semester two, students continue with the level 6 Production Project with a number of optional modules. The Production Project encompasses research, planning and the production of a product followed by a critical evaluation.
Note: All students take the Production Project with two optional modules in each semester.
