Course Description:

The MA MCJ program launched by Department of Mass Communication and Journalism is an offer for students who want to earn University Degree with professional expertise and academic command in Mass Communication and Journalism.

 

The world has seen dramatic changes in media institutions in recent years. Nepal lacks the educated professionals, who could address amalgamation of media with technology. The KCC's MA MCJ program enables students to apply Information Technology extensively in the field of Mass Communication and Journalism. The subject-based modules of the course arm the students with theoretical information, and the practical research work equips them with real professional talents.

 

The Department itself presents a blend of professionals, researchers and academicians - all experts in various disciplines of Mass Communication and Journalism.

 

The MA MCJ degree is a reliable means to ensure the production of skilled professionals demanded by the media industry.

The growing needs of the information society, that is emerging in the country rapidly, is also aspired to be answered by the MA MCJ program.

 

Objectives:      

  • Enable students to - have knowledge of the theoretical concepts, communication skills and practical experience necessary to pursue careers in media profession and media enterprises.
  • Impart knowledge through important research on the process, context and impact of mass communication, and develop appropriate research methods for the study of mass communication Provide knowledge and experience essential to take academic and professional leadership in media institutions.
  • Train students to apply Information Technology in mass media
    Build up skills to pursue the career as a journalist, communicator and media executive Continue further education beyond Masters Degree.

 

Admission info

Eligibility Criteria
A candidate holding a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized cniversity can apply for admission to the Master's in Journalism and Mass Communication and Master's in Development Communication. Likewise, anybody who has completed the 10+2 or the certificate level equivalent can apply for a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism & Mass Communication.
