Nepal is a developing country where unemployment and deficiency of technical manpower have emerged as twin challenges. Keeping them into consideration Birgunj Institute of Technology (BIT) was established in 2000 A.D. with three years Diploma level program (Sub- Engineering) in Electrical and Mechanical stream by a collective of qualified Engineers and educationists. BIT is a private technical institute affiliated to Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) and hence its certificates are recognized by the Nepal Government. It is located at Birgunj Sub Metropolitan city 180 km to south of the capital city Kathmandu and 5 km to the north of Raxaul of India.
Since 2003, the institution has been able to produce efficient and highly skilled manpower at the sub engineer level (Diploma in Engineering) in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Since then, Computer Engineering was added in the year 2002 and Civil Engineering and Electronics Engineering were added in 2007.
Presently the institution is running five different Diploma level programs in Engineering and BIT is preparing to launch bachelor level program (BE) in the nearest future. It owns expanded infrastructure with the following facilities.
