10,00 applications for its TU 45th convocation
Rastriya Samachar Samiti: Tribhuvan University, the oldest and largest educational institution of the country, has called for applications from its graduates to participate in its 45th Convocation Ceremony.
With the TU switching to online system to call applications for convocation since last year, the number of applicants has increased.
According to the Convocation Main Celebration Committee member Secretary Pashupati Adhikari, this year as many as 10,178 graduates have applied to participate in the convocation ceremony. Last year 9,504 students had participated in the ceremony.
Students have been required to meet certain criteria to be eligible for taking part in the ceremony. Those TU graduates, who have obtained their transcripts between 15 June 2018 and 14 June 2019 have been declared eligible for attending the event. The 45th convocation ceremony has been slated for December, where as many as 6,900 guardians have been expected to participate.
Tribhuvan University charges 2,200 per student for participating in the convocation ceremony for bachelor’s degree, Rs 2,700 for master’s degree and Rs 3,200 for M.Phil and Ph.D Degrees. Students seeking to attend the event have been required to deposit additional Rs 1,500, which is refundable, for gown, scarf and cap. The highest number (3720) of applicants were from the faculty of management followed by 2,144 from the faculty of humanities and social sciences.
Remaining others were from engineering, medical science, education, agriculture and for entry science. Though TU produces highest number of graduates annually, it has been criticized for compromising with quality of education.
