940 students absent in SEE in Province 7
The Regional Education Directorate has said that 940 students did not attend the Secondary Education Examinations (SEE) in Province 7 on Thursday. The secondary level exam began across the country from today.
According to the Directorate, among the absentees, the number of students taking the exams under exempted category is more than the students under the regular category.
Under the regular category, 895 students did not sit their exams, Mohan Bahadur Kathayat of the Regional Education Directorate said. He further said that 1,045 students from the exempted category were absent in today’s exam.
Kathayat said that 49,637 students under the regular category and 3,111 students under the exempted category attended the first exam today.
Though 55,228 students filled up the form for the exams, 540 students failed to show up at the exam centers due to various reasons.
Of the absentees, the number of girl students was higher than the boys.
Out of 28,832 students from 1,049 schools, 1,045 students did not take the exam.
A total of 477 students were absent in Kailali district, 300 in Achham, 258 in Darchula, 242 in Kanchanpur, 172 in Bajura, 169 in Bajhang, 192 in Baitadi and 63 in Dadeldhura.
The Regional Education Directorate said the first exam was conducted peacefully in Province 7.
