Delay in result publication hits nursing students
Due to delay in the publication of Proficiency Certificate Level results for nursing, 3,780 students of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training were not able to attend the licensing examination conducted by Nepal Nursing Council.
Of the 4,000 nursing students who appeared PCL nursing examinations, 3,780 passed. CTEVT published the results on October 26. NNC received applications for licensing examination only till October 29. The licensing examination is scheduled to be held on November 24. “Due to lack of time to submit forms, students were unable to participate in the licensing examination,” said Jita Baral, principal of Fishtail Nursing Campus, Pokhara.
“Hundreds of students will be affected if Nepal Nursing Council doesn’t extend the deadline for submission of forms for the licensing examination,” said Baral.
After students’ protest, Nepal Nursing Council, Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training and Nursing Association of Nepal jointly held talks and decided to extend the deadline for form submission, but for a double fee. CTEVT has also agreed to provide the transcript and certificate to students as soon as possible.
“NNC has said that it will accept the application forms till November 16, but students have not yet received their certificates,” said Baral. She also said that NNC charged around 2,000 students double the regular fee for forms. We have been demanding that the NNC return the extra amount charged from students.”
Meanwhile, NNC claimed that the council had been taking licensing examination thrice a year and it had already fixed its date for examination.
