Irregularities, cheating rampant on first day of SLC
Rampant irregularities and cheating have been reported on the first day of School Leaving Certificate examinations that kicked off Thursday.
Over a dozen students were expelled for cheating in Saptari alone, according to our correspondent Jitendra Kumar Jha. “Nineteen students were expelled from various exam centers on the first day of SLC examinations on Thursday, said District Education Officer (DEO) Rudrahari Bhandari.
Meanwhile, Shashi Kumari Chaudhari, 16, of Banarjhula-6, who was heading home from Buddilal Bidya Manur Higher Secondary School after appearing in the exam died in a road accident. Chaudhari, the student of Banarjhula Secondary School, died after a public bus (Na 4 Kha 2116) knocked her down at Kathauna along the East West Highway in Saptari. According to the police, Chaudhari died on the spot. Irate students later vandalized the bus.
Five fake invigilators in Mahottari
Likewise, our correspondent Santosh Singh reports that five fake exam invigilators were arrested from Gaushala in Mahottari. Two fake invigilators assisting examinees to cheat in the exams were driven out while a case has been failed against other three invigilators for breaching the exam code, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Prasad Kharel.
Inspector Jayanarayan Yadav informed that Hari Dev Chaudhari, Ashok Mahato and Tej Naryan Mandal, who were posing as invigilators to assist examinees cheat, were arrested from Janata Secondary School. While two fake invigilators were warned and driven out from the Nigaul Secondary School exam center. The bogus invigilators may face up to six months in jail along with a fine of Rs 150,000.
12 fake examinees, 3 invigilators expelled in Jajarkot
Our Jajarkot correspondent reports that 12 fake examinees were arrested from various exam centers in the district. Six fake examinees from Manyadhunga Secondary School at Talegaun, four from Birendra Aishwarya Secondary School at Limsa and two from Janata Secondary School exam center at Paik were driven out from the exam hall.
Moreover, three invigilators have faced action for breaching exam code. A drunken invigilator at Khalanga exam center was expelled for sending the question paper out of the exam hall before completion of the exam. Jasabir Budha, a teacher at Laxmi Secondary School, was expelled after he was found solving the question inside the exam hall.
Similarly, one invigilator each from Shiva Shanker Secondary School and Janata Secondary School were also expelled for helping students cheat during the exam.
