Malaysian helps Nepali schools
Kaski: A Malaysian national has donate d millions of rupees for educational development in Nepal.
Pandita Ananda, 56, has donate d funds for more than 50 schools and also contributed to the development of roads and health and hydropower sectors.
“I helped the schools not because I am rich. I just want to help provide quality education in rural Nepal,” Ananda said while inaugurating a school at Tikhedhunga in Kaski on Saturday. Popular as a spiritual leader, Ananda’s main source of income is offerings made by his followers and disciples around the world. His income also comes from his investment in Malaysia.
Inspired by Buddha’s teachings, Ananda is said to have contributed more than Rs 1.5 million to schools in Kaski while he also donate d Rs 1 million to the Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara to purchase a dialysis machine. He also offered donation for the construction of a monastery at Kagbeni in Mustang.
