Mid-West University signs MOU with the Tunku Abdul Rahman University College, Malaysia
Mid-West University, Surkhet, Nepal and Tunku Abdul Rahman University College, Malasiya signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on February 9, 2022 in an online signing ceremony to foster educational collaboration and cooperation. The Vice-Chancellor of Mid-West University Prof. Dr. Nanda Bahadur Singh and President of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College Prof. Ir. Dr. Lee Sze Wei signed the MOU.
The Vice-Chancellor of Mid-West University Prof. Dr. Nanda Bahadur Singh and President of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College Prof. Ir. Dr. Lee Sze Wei delivered their speeches at the signing ceremony. The Registrar of Mid-West University Prof. Dr. Narayan Prasad Poudel delivered the welcome address while the program was conducted by the IT Expert at Office of the Vice-Chancellor, MU Asst. Prof. Panch Dev Bhatta. The Vice-President Assoc. Prof. Say Sok Kwan along with Director, Senior Manager, Assistant Registrar from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College were present in the program.
Vice-Chancellor of Mid-West University Prof. Dr. Nanda Bahadur Singh expressed confidence that the agreement would lead to educational development of both the educational institutions and promote mutual understanding between the two universities. President of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College Prof. Ir. Dr. Lee Sze Wei said that after the agreement, students, professors and staff will be exchanged and he will fully support the work.
The two universities have agreed to conduct various collaborative activities for the mutual benefit on the basis of equality and reciprocity, under which various collaborative educational activities will be conducted like exchanging professors, students and staff; conducting joint conferences, seminars, joint research, publication, consulting; specific lab equipment, teaching materials, expertise sharing and etc. The agreement is done for a period of 5 years and can be extended by mutual agreement between the two universities.
Mid-West University is an autonomous and public higher education institution and was established by the Government of Nepal with a Parliament Act number 2 on June 17, 2010 A.D. The University has seven graduate schools, ten constituent campuses, two schools and one affiliated college across the nation. About 12,000 students are studying in PhD, MPhil, Masters and Bachelors level including various programs like Agriculture and Forestry, Education, Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Law, Management, Science and Technology, etc. at the university.
Tunku Abdul Rahman University College was established in 1969 in the name of the first Prime Minister of Malaysia and was upgraded to a university college in 2013. About 28,000 students are currently studying at the university college in PhD, MPhil, Masters, Bachelors and Diploma level including different programs like Accountancy, Finance and Business, Applied Sciences, Computing and Information Technology, Environment, Engineering, Technology, Social Science and Humanities etc. The university college has six affiliated campuses across the nation and the main campus is in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. It is one of the largest and oldest higher education institutions in the history of Malaysia and will be transformed into a full-fledged university by the end of 2022, President Prof. Ir. Dr. Lee Sze Wei mentioned in the ceremony.
