Nationwide essay competition
National Youth Federation Nepal and Raksha Nepal are organizing a nationwide essay competition on the topic “Role of the youth in ending forced prostitution.”
As a way of marking the 13th International Youth Day, the call for submissions of essays is starting from today. The last date for submitting the essays is August 25.
Anyone below 35 years of age can take part in this competition. The essays should be within 1,000 words, and can be submitted in Nepali as well as in English.
The first part of the essay should include the role of people in forced prostitution while the second part should deal with the present situation. The solution and the role of youth have to be included in the third part.
A summary has to be presented at the end of the essay. Incomplete, out-of-topic essays and essays found to be written by someone else will be disqualified.
The winner in the competition will be awarded a cash prize and a certificate in a ceremony.
Menuka Thapa, Chairman of Raksha Nepal, says, “We’ll be announcing the winners after a week of the last date of the competition. The winner will get the opportunity of having his essay published in a national daily.”
While the winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 5,000, the first and second runner-ups will receive Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively. Certificates will also be presented to the three winners, along with the fourth and fifth runner-ups.
The essays can be posted to the office addresses of the organizers or dropped in the offices. They can also be emailed at info.nyfn@gmail.com and info@rakshanepal.org with a passport-size photograph. Clear detailed address of the participant needs to be included in the respective submitted essay.
