NMC okays internship in Nepal for Chinese varsity student
The Nepal Medical Council has allowed Tejendra Pandey, who is pursuing medical education in China, to complete internship in Nepal.
In a letter issued to Pandey, the NMC stated that Pandey should be able to do internship on medicine, surgery, obstetrician, gynaecology, and pediatrics. The NMC has said that the student shall, after completing internship in Nepal, produce a copy of the letter from the university he has been pursuing his medical degree, mentioning the knowledge and skills he has acquired during his internship in Nepal. Apparently the NMC chief is giving permissions to candidates of his choice selectively to facilitate their internship in Nepal.
More than 225 Nepali students, who are pursuing medical education in China, have been denied entry into China to complete their course. Although the Government of Nepal took a decision on December 29 to allow Nepali students who have finished MBBS course in China to do internship in Nepal, NMC's refusal to recognise students' online practical studies, has added to woes of Nepali students.
