SEE: Recognition to internal assessment demanded
Prakash Silwal, Kathmandu, June 10: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has received a recommendation that the internal assessment should be recognized for the grading after Grade 10 and 11, while the exam be held for Grade 12.
After receiving such recommendation, the Ministry has decided to forward similar proposal before the Council of Ministers, giving three alternatives including the internal assessment. The meeting of the Council of Ministers will take the decision soon.
Furnishing response to lawmakers' queries on the Appropriation Bill 2077 under various headings relating to the Education Ministry, Minister Giriraj Mani Pokhrel shared this information. "Government will take decision on it soon," he said, adding that new strategies were being mulled on exam system in the wake of the COVID-19.
In view of the outbreak of the COVID-19, the Secondary School Exam (SEE) to qualify Grade 10 students scheduled to begin from March 19 had been just cancelled a day before, over fear of Corona Virus.
Ministry Spokesperson and recommendation taskforce coordinator Dipak Sharma shared that the government was suggested three alternative for the SEE as internal assessment, State-level exam or the national exam after amending the existing law.
The Cabinet will decide the alternative and the decision implemented accordingly, he added.
