Theatre Monologue Contest 2.0 by Thames Theater Club
Thames Theater Club in collaboration with Thames International College announces Monologue Competition 2.0 with the slogan " Unleash Your Dramatic Colors’’.
Thames Theater Club - TTC "We Act Out" has launched the second online monologue competition with a view to attract international participants along with national ones. The club's coordinator Raksha Thapa cited the success of last year's competition along with her hopes to rescue people out of the hopelessness created by the pandemic to be the reason behind coming up with this year's competition.
The club, which started its journey as an Interest Based Club of Thames International College for the past five years, has also conducted drama workshops and plays in collaboration with Theater Village Nepal. Founded in 2016 with the main objective of transforming the society through theater culture, the club has been able to present itself to others since its inception. According to Aditi Khanal, the coordinator of the competition, last year's competition provided an opportunity to connect with the artists and painters.
The competition this time aims to bring together all the theatre artists and provide them some respite from the ongoing pandemic. Through the competition, the organizers at the club also look to provide a platform to the new comers in the field.
Based on the videos received from the contestants, the club has arranged prizes for the best three contestants. The first place winner will get NPR 20,000, second place winner will get NPR 15,000, and third place winner will get NPR 10,000.
Actors and filmmakers Vijay Baral, Dia Maskey, and Dilip Ranabhat are in the judging panel of the competition. Gift Hampers worth NPR 3000 on behalf of NUTS ABOUT NUTS and Gift Hamper on behalf of HEMPKOO to the best contestant and 10% discount coupon to all contestants is available. Similarly, all the contestants will get 10% discount coupon from EVIVEZ and FQ3 is providing the best contestant with a food coupon worth NPR 1000.
The Thames Theater Club is the main organizer and Thames International College is the main sponsor and co-organizer of the competition. The competition will be supported by Nuts About Nuts, HEMPKOO, EVIVEZ and FQ3 FOOD.
The rules and criteria of the competition are as follows:
> Competitors from home and abroad will be able to participate in the competition.
> Contestants must be over 18 years of age.
> The application fee for the competition is NPR 100 for Nepali contestants and $5 for foreign contestants. The contestant has to transfer the amount to Thames Theater Club's ESEWA number 9842150948 or use the PAYPAL ID: sagar.dahal2016@gmail.com
> The duration of the video will be 2 minutes
> Videos in any language will be taken, but videos with content other than in Nepali, English and Hindi must have subtitles.
> Videos made on TickTock will not be recognized.
> The visual and audio of the video should be clear to watch and listen to. Video must be shot in a single shot. Background music and voice over will be available.
> The video should be sent to + 977-9862129430
> When submitting a video, the contestant must send the details of name, address, and the photo of the money transfer slip.
> The submission deadline is July 31, 2021.
> The Thames Theater Club and Thames International College have the right to announce the winner in the event of a tie.
> The rights to post the video to the Thames Theater Club's Instagram Page remain with Thames Theater Club and Thames International College.
> The contest will run on the Instagram page of : @thamestheatreclub @thamescollegekathmandu and Facebook Page of Thames Theater Club and Thames International.
