TU campuses shutdown for second consecutive day
Regular classes in all the campuses affiliated to Tribhuvan University and its research centres came to a halt on Friday as well due to a shutdown called by the Tribhuvan University Teachers’ Association (TUTA).
Teachers of the country’s oldest university called shutdown floating 22-point charter of demands, including salary hike, uniform allowance on par with government officials who have been enjoying fringe benefit for the past one year. It has also warned of a stern strike if the demands were not fulfilled on time.
They have also demanded accident insurance, permanent status to temporary lecturers who have been serving in the university and no age bar for study leave.
Their other demands include permanent status to the trainers who have been working in the TU for years as temporary employees and the extension of age bar for study leave.
