TU teachers planning to introduce yoga course
Professors and yoga teachers at Tribhuvan University said they were planning to introduce an academic course on yoga soon.
Central Department of Sanskrit at TU organised a seven-day yoga workshop for staffers of the university as a preliminary step towards introducing post-graduate yoga course, according to the teachers involved in the project.
Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines and has gained much popularity in recent years. With private yoga training centres mushrooming in the city, the university and the Department of Sanskrit are excited about launching an academic course on yoga.
TU Vice-chancellor Tirtha Raj Khaniya said, “TU should give high priority to research on the possibility of introducing new subjects. As Sanskrit is losing its charm, such a programme will help attract more students to learn the language.”
Coordinator of the yoga workshop Subodh Sukla said even if they failed to launch an academic course on yoga, they would not stop spreading the message that an academic course on yoga was possible.
Yogacharya (yoga teacher Subodh Sinkhada spoke about the importance of yoga in daily life. “Include yoga in your daily life and stay mentally, physically and spiritually healthy,” he said.
