TU to celebrate its 37th convocation ceremony today
Tribhuvan University (TU) is all set to conduct its 37th convocation ceremony today.
As said by Registrar at TU, Chandra Mani Poudyal, at least 38,868 students from various streams including humanities and social sciences, education, science and technology, forestry, would participate in the convocation.
Earlier, the convocation was scheduled for November 2011 but saw postponement after university failed to convene its assembly meeting on time.
As per TU regulations, it is the meeting of the assembly which approves the number and list of the students willing to participate in the convocation.
Precisely, students who earned their graduation degrees from 1st July 2010 to 31st May 2011 from TU will be permitted to participate in this convocation programme.
Security has been beefed up on the university premises as Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai is scheduled to address the gathering.
There are some 360,000 students pursuing higher education under the TU.
