Diwakar Pyakurel, a Tribhuvan University (TU) student who was still waiting for his Bachelor’s result, sat for his Master level first semester examination in a Pokhara University affiliated institution.
Pyakurel, a student from TU affiliated Sagarmatha Multiple College, had given his BA third year exam in August 2011. Later he got admitted to PU affiliated Institute of Advanced Communication, Education and Research (IACER) for a Masters of Arts degree in the Capital.
He said,” I am also confused whether such a thing is possible and such an exam will be valid.”
According to him, he got admitted in the college because he was confident about passing his Bachelor’s degree with good grades.
“But I still wonder how I got my admit card to sit for MA first semester exam without my BA result,” he added.
He also stated that the college had given him two options in case he failed his BA third year exam.
“The college has assured to either refund me or grant me scholarship next year if I studied there,” he said adding, “I have paid Rs 20,000 to the college for first semester.” he said.
Meanwhile, Guna Nidhi Neupane, rector, TU said that there was no such provision in any university so far.He said, “No university can enroll new students without their pass academic certificate.”Meanwhile, Ananda Sharma, principal, IACER was unavailable for comments.
