ICA Introduction
ICA – the Award winning Center as the “Best Overseas Partner Institution 2011, 2013 and 2014” for the Best Services by Indira Gandhi National Open University  and recipient of “Best Distance Education B-School of Nepal 2013” was established in 1997 and has been providing educational services to the nation since then. In 2002, it became the first Partner Institution (PI) currently known as Overseas Study Center (OSC) of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in Nepal. It is one of the pioneer Institution of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) in Nepal. The study center is approved by the Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal. It is also the only educational institution from Nepal to become the member of Asian Association of Open Universities ( www.aaou.net ) .It has been providing internationally acclaimed degrees through the ODL Mode of education in Nepal.

ICA presently offers 8 different Academic, Value Added and Awareness programs through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode in Management, Humanities & Social Science, Tourism, Computer Science, etc .The learners enrolled in ICA are fresher’s or professionals from diverse fields such as Hospitality industry, Financial Institutions, Telecommunication, Corporate Houses, Embassies and Diplomatic agencies etc. ICA also offers such programs in collaboration with government and non-government agencies through an arrangement of program specific Work Centers and a strong network of Learner Support Centers situated in different locations of Nepal. ADMISSION OPEN FOR following programs:

1. Bachelor of Commerce with Major in Accountancy and Finance B.Com (A&F)

Bachelor of Commerce with Major in Accountancy and Finance is designed and developed in collaboration with The Board of Studies. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, exclusively for the Chartered Accountancy students. The main objective of this programme  is to develop skills and competencies of the students in the field of Accountancy and Finance.

Students can simultaneously study this B.com with Major in Accountancy and finance programme with Chartered Accountancy First stage offered by ICAI. This programme course comprises of 96 credits,out of which 32 credits are from IGNOU and 64 credits are part of Chartered Accountancy course ( First Stage). Once a student passing Chartered Accountancy First stage, automatic credit transfer is given in this B.Com ( A&F) programme for all of those of Chartered Accountancy course First Stage courses. This scheme facilitates the student to obtain dual degree Simultaneously.

- Eligibility
> 10 + 2 or its equivalent.
> Passed Common Profiency Test CPT/PE-II/ Foundation from ICAI.
> Registration in Professional Competence Course/PE-II/Intermediate/IPCC/ ( Chartered Accountancy forst Stage ) of ICAI or already passed Professional Competence Course/PE-II/Intermediate. Similarly all those students who have passed Chartered Accountancy are also eligible for admission subject to successful completion of condition i and ii mentioned above.

2. Bachelor Of Commerce (B.Com)

Bachelor of Commerce (B.com) is designed to provide students with a wide range of managerial skills, while building competence in an area of business. Students are revealed to general business principles, taking courses in accounting, finance, business management, human resources, marketing, and economics.

3. Bachelors Degree in Arts ( BA )

Bachelor of Arts (BA) is a course designed to enhance students’ conceptual and theoretical understanding and methodological skills of respective subjects. It offers a wide range of subjects. On completion of this course, students possess theoretical knowledge and practical skills of recognized standard with which they can pursue their career in multitude of profession such as teaching, business, finance, management consultancy and the public sector.

> 10+2 or its equivalent or BPP from IGNOU

4. Bachelor of Computer Applications ( BCA )

The basic objective of the Programme is to open a channel of admission for computing courses for students, who have done their 10+2 and are interested in taking computing/IT as a career.  After acquiring the Bachelor’s Degree (BCA) at IGNOU, there is further educational opportunity to go for an MCA at IGNOU or Master’s Programme at any other University/Institute. Also after completing BCA Programme, a student should be able to get entry level job in the field of Information Technology or ITES.

5. Bachelor’s Degree In Tourism Studies (BTS )

BTS is a 3-year Degree Programme. The Programme is of 96 credits. The BTS Programme is designed for those students who are interested in pursuing a career in travel and tourism sector at different level. The Programme is aimed at familiarizing you with varied aspects of Tourism, creating awareness about tourism, imparting basic training in organizing Tourism services and opening career opportunities. The Programme will be of use to those, who are already employed (direct or indirect in Tourism Industry), intend to make career in Tourism Industry, are providing tourism related services through own enterprises or planning to become such entrepreneur. The Programme is also useful for those who are associated with tourism awareness Programmes/research and would like to update their knowledge and skills in the field of travel and tourism. This program, like other Bachelor’s Degree Programs, has a 3-tier structure comprising foundation, elective and application oriented courses. Students will need to complete 96 credits.

6. Master Of Computer Application ( MCA)

The broad objective of the MCA program is to prepare graduate students for productive careers in software industry and academia by providing an outstanding environment for teaching and research in the core and emerging areas of the discipline. The programs thrust is on giving the students a thorough and sound background in theoretical and application-oriented course relevant to the latest computer software development. The program emphasizes the application or software technology to solve mathematical, computing, communications/ networking and commercial problems.

This Master’s Degree Programme has been designed with a semester approach in mind. The first year courses are aimed at skills development in computers using various technologies, the second year is more focused on core courses providing a conceptual framework and the third year provides the specialization and the project work. After the successful completing of first year courses, the student will receive the PGDCA (Post Graduation Diploma in Computer Applications)certificate.

First Year: Also equivalent to PGDCA (Post Graduation Diploma in Computer Applications) degree

- Duration Min 3 years Max 6 years

- Eligibility
> Any Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration from a recognized University AND Mathematics as one of the subject at 10+2 level or graduation level; else the student is required to pursue and pass the BCS-012 course concurrently with IGNOU MCA.
> If you had studied Maths at +2 or graduation level, then you need not register for BCS-012.
 

7. Master of Arts In English (MEG)

The aim of the Master’s Degree in English (MEG) Programme is to give the learners a sound understanding of English and American literatures and also other new areas in literature such as, Canadian, Australian and Indian English. The learners would develop an understanding of English and other literatures of their choice in their proper historico-critical perspectives. A good knowledge of reading, comprehension and writing skills would be a pre-requisite for this Programme.

A student can obtain an MA degree in English by taking 8 courses (of 8 credits each is equal to 64 credits) in all. (Five of these are compulsory). For the remaining three the student has a choice from a number of optional courses. Some more optional courses are under preparation.

8. Masters of Tourism and Travel Management ( MTTM)

The Masters of Tourism & Travel Management is a professional programme designed to cater to the needs of the tourism industry. It is useful for all those who are either employed or intend to make a career in tourism.

- Duration Min 2 years Max 4 years

- Eligibility
> Category 1:  BTS; BA (Tourism); B.Sc. Hospitality and Hotel Administration (BHM); Bachelor’s in Hotel Management (approved by AICTE) and those students who have done their Graduation in any filed along with a Diploma in Tourism, which is recognized in the University system or by AICTE.
> Category 2: Bachelor’s Degree in any field. However, all students of category 2 will have to pass four additional courses during their period of study.
 

9. Master Of Business Administration (MBA)

The core courses in an MBA program cover various areas of business such as accounting, applied statistics, business communication, business ethics, business law, finance, managerialeconomics, management, entrepreneurship, marketing and operations in a manner most relevant to management analysis and strategy. It introduced course wise registration in Management Programs.  Pursuing an MBA will give you skills that you may use to solve day-to-day business and management problems. Each academic year is divided into two semesters: January to June and July to December.

- Eligibility
> Any graduate (Including Chartered Accountancy/Cost Accountancy/Company Secretaryship) with 50% marks for general category.
