Thames International College
Old Baneshwor, KathmanduProfile
Thames College started its journey towards serving the youth of Nepal in collegiate studies a decade ago. The vision was different from a regular college atmosphere. College is the place where a youth enters with lots of confusion in mind. The students at this stage are neither adolescents nor adults. They are mystified on their future course of action. Parents put pressure on academic excellence; peer group diverts attention towards other activities. A major proportion of students, at this juncture, get squashed in between diversified career options and personal strength identification.
Thames exists to extend a realistic assistance to the 'young adults' at this crucial phase of their life. It attempts to create an atmosphere where learning does not become a forced compulsion but a creatively involved habit. Preparing students to excel in examinations is obviously the prime focus, but Thames believes knowledge lies beyond just text books. At Thames, we concentrate on overall personality development of the talented present generation youth.
Not every youth makes a career out of sheer brilliant academic achievements; some may aim to be a good musician whereas some may excel in a career on sports, and yet, a basic standard of education is so important in all career options. Thames assists its students to identify their own strengths and weaknesses and then opens opportunity to sharpen their talents and overcome weaknesses. And all these are done with utmost professionalism. The reality is, a college going student cannot be 'forced' into anything. Conviction is the key factor. Thames concentrate on injecting a sense of realization in students on the importance of a sound academic back-up in their life, no matter what career they choose at the end, in this highly competitive world.
Graduates from Thames are equipped with immense self confidence and the spirit to face the challenges of life with grace. And there lies our success. We don't just provide 'academic degree' to our students, but shape them as responsible dynamic citizens of the country.
