2015/2016 Chevening Scholarships winners announced
The British Embassy on Tuesday publicized the names of the winners of 2015/2016 Chevening Scholarships.
According to a press statement issued by the embassy, altogether 19 Nepali applicants were awarded the UK government's prestigious scholarships. This is the highest number of Chevening scholarships awarded to Nepali nationals in a single year.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Mahendra Bahadur Pandey and UK Ambassador to Nepal John Rankin jointly distributed certificates to the winners of the scholarship amid a function held at the embassy premise on Tuesday. These 19 scholars will fly to the UK next week to study master's degree in various UK universities.
Those winning Chevening scholarship for 2015/16 include Abhishek Yadav (MSc in Economics and Policy of Energy and the Environment at University College London), Avinash Gupta (MA in Political Economy of Development at the School of Oriental and African Studies), Bipin Basnet (MSc in Civil Engineering and Management at the University of Glasgow), Birendra Rana (Msc in Economic Development at the University of Glasgow), Bishal Bharadwaj (MSc in Climate Change at University College London), Deepchandra KC (MA in International Disaster Management at the University of Manchester), Dr Nitin Kumar Agrawal (MSc in Forensic Anthropology at the University of Dundee), Kosh Raj Koirala (MA in International Relations at University of Leeds) and Kriti Pokharel (MSc in International Business at the University of Brimingham)
Lusan Nakarmi (MSc in Architectural and Urban Design at the University of Edinburgh), Madhav Upreti (MSc in Hydrology for Water Resources Management at Imperial College London), Mukesh Kharel (MSc in Manufacturing Engineering, Innocation and Management at Cardiff University), Rojina Thapa (LLM in International Trade and Commercial Law at Durham University), Rojy Joshi (MSc in Development Economics at the University of Birmingham), Salina Chaulagain (MA in Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding at Durham University), Sanchita Neupane (MSc in Risk at Durham University), Sangeeta Thapa MA in International Development at Northumbria University), Shreya Paudel (MSc in Conflict Studies at London School of Ecomonics and Political Science) and Sunita Sharma (MBA in Business Administration at Cardiff University) are among those winning the Chevening scholarship.
The embassy has invited applications for Chevening Scholarship for 2016/17. The Chevening is fully funded scholarship to pursue studies in any UK university. This includes university tuition fees, a monthly stipend, travel costs to and from the UK, an arrival allowance, a homeward departure allowance, a thesis grant, a grant for study materials, a study travel allowance and the cost of one visa application and a travel grant to attend Chevening events in the UK.
