63.59 pc get through SLC suppl exam
Bhaktapur: The Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE) on Saturday published the results of the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) supplementary exams. The examinations were held through August 7-15 this year.
Altogether, 63.59 percent of the examinees passed the test this year. While the pass percentage was 67.41percent last year, it was 71 percent in 2009.
Of the 122,473 examinees, 77,583 (39,732 girls and 38,151 boys) managed to get through the “Iron Gate” in their second attempt.
The results were published after 26 days of the examination, the first time in the history of the SLC exams that the results were published in less than a month.
As in the regular SLC exam, the pass percentage in the supplementary test is also gradually decreasing in the past three years.
Among the successful candidates, 1,492 passed in the first division, 57,385 secured the second division and 19, 006 got through in third division. However, nobody managed to secure a distinction this year.
Students who failed in a maximum of two subjects in the regular examinations were given a chance to appear in the supplementary exams.
Like in the previous years, students were given five grace marks this year as well.
According to the OCE, the results can be seen on two websites www.soce.gov.np, www.doe.gov.np and www.moe gov.np.
One can also check the results by sending an SMS to 1400 through the GSM (pre-paid/post-paid mobile) of Nepal Telecom. It can also be obtained by dialling 1600.
