All to blame for SLC result
Education Minister Gangalal Tuladhar on Tuesday said all the stakeholders—the parents, students, teachers and government—are responsible for decline in the pass percentage of School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations this year.

Speaking at a programme in Reporter’s Club, Tuladhar pointed out the need of an all-side convention for the improvement of education sector. He notified that the convention would dwell on issues like education strategy, examination system, education policy, invigilation, and reward and punishment.
“People should take responsibilities. I am ready to take my share of responsibilities,” he said.
Stating that the carrot and stick approach is essential in any form of education, Tuladhar said lack of such system is the main reason why people show reluctance to take responsibilities. He stressed that the pass percentage decreased this year by nine percent because the answer scripts were examined more strictly. “The results also reflect the lack of adequate efforts on the part of parents, students and teachers,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chairman of Private and Boarding Schools Organisation of Nepal Rajesh Khadka said the increasing political instability has affected the education sector. He attributed the unsatisfactory SLC performance to the country’s ongoing political turmoil.
