Baidya men padlock pvt schools
Palpa: The student union affiliated with the Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist padlocked private schools in Palpa district on Monday.
All Nepal National Independent Student Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) bolted the account and administration sections protesting the hike of registration and monthly fees by Tansen-based private schools.
They said the private educational institutions unilaterally increased enrollment and monthly fees with the start of a new academic session. The union has put forward a 15-point charter of demands, including early withdrawal of the hiked fees. Stating that the schools violated government rules and regulations to increase the fees, ANNISU-R district chairman Aashish Dudharaj warned that the protest would continue unless their demands are met. He claimed such institutions have been fleecing the people in the name of providing quality education.
Meanwhile, chairman of Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation of Nepal, Khem Saru, denounced the move of padlocking schools without prior information.
