Bangladesh varsity to take action against guilty
The Bangladeshi university that witnessed a clash between Nepali students on Friday night has said that immediate action will be taken against the guilty, the Nepali embassy in Dhaka informed.
Around one-and-a-half dozen Nepali students in the university were injured, three of them critically, in a clash between two groups of Nepali students studying MBBS at the Chittagong-based University of Science and Technology.
The clash is said to have ensued after a minor altercation.
“As there is a nationwide strike in Bangladesh for two days, we are unable to go to Chittagong and take stock of situation,” an embassy source said.
According to him, the mission is in touch with injured students and the university over phone.
“The injured students in the clash are out of danger and are receiving treatment. Police are providing security to students in the hostel,” said the source.
Deepak Giri, Shailujanand Bhurtel, Om Prakash Pandit, Jag Lal Jaiswal, Pushpa Bhusal, Soubhagya Shah, Sanjaya Yadav, Mohammad Imran, Dipesh Uprety and Shekhar Yadav were some of the students who were injured in the clash.Giri and Bhurtel were injured critically.
The injured students in the fatal fight have accused Rajendra Dhungana, Shambhu Sen Tumbafo, Ratna Shahi, Dinesh Raj Dahit, Susabin Rai, Durga Gurung and Ghanashyam Rai of attacking them with swords and other sharp weapons.
