BPKIHS being run without a registrar
Dharan: BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan has been running without a registrar for the past two months.
The registrar is the second topmost position after the Vice-chancellor.The absence of registrar has hampered day-to-day operations of the hospital, including administrative, projection of programmes for the new fiscal, and human resource management, hospital sources said.
The post has been lying vacant after the term of former registrar Nanda Kumar Thapa expired on June 1.
As per tradition, the health minister appoints the registrar from among the three capable candidates recommended by the Vice-chancellor.
“However, VC BP Das it yet to recommend anyone’s name.” Doctors and officials at BPKIHS have been recommending the names of eligible candidates from the institute itself.
Earlier, the institute had invited applications through open competition, where candidates within and outside the institute had applied for the vacant post.
As many as 37 people have applied for the post so far, said a source at the institute.
Sujendra Tamang, Chairperson of Employees’ Welfare Society of the institute said, “The person should be capable, honest, familiar with the institute, and possess high administrative and leadership quality to be appointed to the post of registrar.”
He warned of barring anyone from entering the institute if the registrar was selected in an unfair manner.
