British Council's new English teaching-learning initiative
British Council today launched programmes for teaching and learning English in new formats.
Learn English Mobile, Learn English Newspaper, Teach English Radio and a series of Master Training workshops and creativity-enhancing programmes are some of the formats that will be used.
The three-year school programme will be convenient, interesting and innovative and will use the latest technology for teaching and learning English. The programme is being run in partnership with Department for International Development (DFID) for over 5,000 schools in the UK and worldwide to help over 30,000 schools to collaborate online.
The programmes are designed in response to an independent review of how best to teach young people about global themes. Learners can learn through SMS, reading newspaper—learners can practice their English on story published every Tuesday in The Himalayan Times and listen to Teach English Radio on Radio Nepal every Friday night after Nepali BBC service.
