Cambridge toppers bag awards
University of Cambridge International Examination (CIE) and British Council Nepal jointly awarded the winners of the Outstanding Cambridge Learners for their excellent academic achievements in Advance (A) and Advance Subsidiary (AS) levels exams.
Minister for Education Dinanath Sharma, Senior Education Advisor of University of Cambridge John Guy and Country Director of British Council Robert Monro gave away 58 CIE certificates amid a programme organised in the Capital on Wednesday.
Around four dozen students received the award for exceptional performance, including three who achieved the highest marks in the world in Cambridge examination in June and November 2011. Apoorva Lal and Shashank Sharma from Rato Bangla School and Samip Baral from Gems Institute of Higher Education were the world toppers. Sharma and Baral became world toppers in General Paper while Lal secured highest in English language and literature.
Among the Nepal toppers, highest 10 were from Chelsea International Academy while Rato Bangla and Kings College have the second highest toppers eight each followed by Trinity International College with six toppers.
Similarly, 11 teachers from 10 different GCE A level schools were awarded with the Cambridge Inspirational Teachers Award for the first time.
