CDC preparing new textbooks for Grade IX
The Curriculum Development Centre under the Ministry of Education is preparing to introduce new Grade IX textbooks from the new academic session.
CDC is preparing to introduce new textbooks of six compulsory subjects — English, Nepali, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Environment, Health and Population.
Diwakar Dhungel, executive director, CDC, today said they were currently preparing the Print Ready Copy of the new textbooks.
According to CDC, every year minor correction of facts and figures are made while reprinting the textbooks, while they are revised every five years. Similarly, every ten years, textbooks are changed.
“We changed Grade VIII textbooks last year. But we will be changing only the textbooks of compulsory subjects of Grade IX this year,” said Dhungel. He mentioned that since the textbooks are being changed after a decade, teachers and students will have to work hard.
“There were more than 25 optional subjects in Grade IX. So, we were not able to introduce new textbooks for all subjects at once. In the first phase, we will be changing the textbooks of compulsory subjects only. The textbooks of other subjects will also be changed in the coming years. He also said that Janak Education Materials Centre will print the new textbooks.
According to Dhungel, CDC is planning to handover the PRC of all compulsory subjects to JEMC so that textbooks can be printed before the beginning of the new academic session.
