College boy dies in gang attack in capital
A college boy was beaten up to death by an unidentified gang in Kalopul in the capital on Sunday afternoon.
Ritesh Parajuli, 17, an eleventh grader at Xavier International College, Kalopul, was fatally thrashed by a group of some four or five assailants after a minor dispute at an eatery where he had gone for lunch.
He was then rushed to Kathmandu Model Hospital in a semi-conscious state but doctors pronounced him dead at 2 pm some 15 minutes after he was brought to the hospital.
According to his friend Rohan Gurung, who was with him when the mishap happened, the assailants were already sitting at the eatery when they reached there but said he has no idea who they were.
Gurung, who is currently in police custody for questioning, said he can identify them by their faces. The assailants are on the run.
Police said no apparent reason is known yet as to why they attacked the boy, who originally hails from Mankha-7 of Sindhupalchowk district.
The deceased’s body bears no signs of major bruises but blood could be seen oozing out of one of his ears. A police investigation is underway.
