Dalit community children going to schools regularly
Arghakhanchi: The children of dalit community in Arghakhanchi have started to go schools regularly, thanks to increasing level of awareness among the parents.
Almost all children from the dalit community in different villages have started to go their schools regularly after the District Education Office (DEO), Arghakhanchi, conducted the door to door campaign to enroll the children in the schools.
More than 15 children of Badi community of Bhadrikhola in Kimdanda VDC got admission in Ganga Lower Secondary School in Chutrabensi in this academic year, said the school headmaster, Krishna Pokhrel. He said, among 50 new students in grade one, half of them are from dalit communities.
Local Bimala Nepali said she sent her two sons to school after the school teachers shared many things about the importance of education.
The villagers said the door to door campaign has brought a massive change in the school admission rate. The Dalit communities of Hansapur, Khan, Argha, Balkot, Simalpani and other VDCs have started sending their children in the schools.
District education officer Mitramani Khanal said this year more than 1,000 children from dalit communities have been enrolled in the school.
