Directive to make teachers' exams fair, disciplined
The Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) today directed all concerned to make examinations for selection of permanent teachers fair, disciplined and credible.
In a notice, TSC said a meeting held yesterday authorised members of District Examination Coordination Committees, observers, superintendents, assistant superintendents and invigilators to take steps to make the exams fair and decent.
TSC has told officials to invalidate answer sheets of those examinees, who are found using accessories and materials prohibited in exam halls.
It has ordered officials to rusticate those examinees, who make noise in the halls and disturb others. TSC will cancel examinations of fake examinees and bar them from all TSC-conducted examinations for five years depending on the nature of the offence. Fake examinees may face jail term of up to six months and a maximum fine of Rs 100,000.
Any permanent teacher appearing in the exams for the same position will be liable to departmental action. Fake examinees will be handed over to security personnel and genuine examinees concerned will not be allowed to take TSC exams for five years. The genuine examinees at fault will face departmental action. TSC is conducting the exams from May 23 after a gap of 17 years. Altogether 61,620 applicants have applied for 2,286 teaching positions at the secondary level, 168,184 for 2,793 positions at the lower secondary level and 250,954 for 7,980 positions at the primary level.
The exams for secondary, lower secondary and primary level teachers will be conducted from 2 pm to 5 pm on May 23, 24 and 25, respectively.
