ECAN fair kicks off at Bhrikutimandap
A four-day education fair, organised by the Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN) and presented by the Kantipur daily, kicked off in the Capital on Thursday. Vice President Paramananda Jha inaugurated the sixth edition of the mega event at the Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall.
Addressing the event, Jha urged education consultancies to provide accurate and helpful counselling to students aspiring to go aboard so that they will not face problems in foreign lands. He asked them to invite foreign students to educational institutions here and help raise the quality of education in the country.
“It’s high time we stopped outbound students by delivering quality education in Nepal. ECAN should seek new avenues in the country,” he said. Organisers claim that the fair will provide students and their parents with right and relevant information on academic degrees available in and outside the country.
“Apart from providing basic counselling on what subjects to pursue, where to study and what to expect from colleges, educational consultancies at the fair will detail the process of application and going abroad,” said ECAN President Rajendra Baral.
The organisers have announced full scholarships for 10 students from marginalised communities in national and international colleges. Additionally, the surplus money collected from entrance fees will go to conflict victims, public schools and libraries, said Baral.
The fair, which aims to attract 120,000 students, will be held daily from 11am to 6pm until Sunday.
