Education bodies issue appeal for bandh-free SLC exams
The umbrella organisations of private academic institutions—the Higher Secondary Schools Association of Nepal (HISAN) and the National Private and Boarding School Organisation (PABSON) have appealed against imposing any bandh or strike during the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations of this year which are scheduled to start from March 14.
Issuing a press statement jointly on Tuesday, they have appealed not to organise any bandh and strike during the period keeping in mind the interests of hundreds of thousands of students, guardians and teachers.
The private education bodies have also urged the political parties, guardians’ associations, students’ wings, sister organisations, professional organisations, media, security forces and all the people to create peaceful environment so that the students can sit for the examination without fear.
For this year’s SLC examination, scheduled to be held on March 14-22, a total of 547,165 school students are appearing. Among them, 430,097 are sitting for examination under the regular stream and 117,068 under exempted category.
The Office of the Controller of Examinations has informed that 1,786 exam centres have been fixed throughout the country for the same.
