Education on patriotism necessary: Prez Yadav
President Ram Baran Yadav has said generation of good and moral manpower is the matter of concern for all, and education on patriotism is necessary as the responsibilty to steer the nation will come upon the shoulder of students in the future.
Inaugurating the golden jubilee celebration of the Gyanodaya Secondary School at Old Kalimati in the Capital on Friday, the president said the need of the day is quality manpower rather than quantity.
It is a matter of happiness that the rate of young children's enrollment in school have been gradually increasing, but the need of the hour is how to make it sustainable, he said.
The president was of the view that it was a challenge to bring backward communities in remote areas to mainstream of education. "We should focus on producing competitive human resource in the international market," the president said.
President Yadav also inaugurated the golden jubilee pillar of the school. On the occasion, President Yadav gave away honors and commendation letters to former chairmen of School Management Committees Gokarna Prasad Mishra, Prof. Thakur Parajuli, Keshav Raj Paudel and Radhakrishna Sharma.
Likewise, he also gave away letters of honors to former headmasters Shiva Nath Lamichhane, Bhawani Sharma, Mana Sharma. Sanukaji KC, Rebratna Bajracharya, and present headmaster Dhananjaya Sharma, land donor late Kanchha Maharjan's son Dharma Narayan, donor Hikmat Bahadur Mali, and best student Jagadish Upreti and Nabina Bhandari.
At the programme, Joint Secretary of the Department of Education Mahashram Sharma, said there is a challenge to pass cent percent students even if 95 per cent children have already reached schools.
Headmaster Dhananjaya Sharma Adhikari said the school that started in sheds, has still not enough modern resources and is failing to impart education on science and technology. The function was presided over by School Management Committee Chairman Narayan Prasad Paudel.
