Education sector under CIAA scanner
Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has decided to look into the irregularities plaguing the country´s education system.
The anti-graft body has formed a team each at all its five regional headquarters to investigate the alleged cases and complaints of corruption related to education sector in those areas.
Stating that the CIAA was aware about the irregularities in the education sector, such as headmasters´ involvement in misuse of school development fund, appointment of fake teachers, and students, the anti-corruption authority has set up regional offices in Dhankuta, Hetauda, Pokhara, Surkhet, and Dipayal, the regional headquarters of Eastern, Central, Western, Mid-Western and Far-Western Development Regions, respectively.
The involvement of District Education Offices in giving validity to fake schools to secure more funds is one of the important areas that the newly formed vigilance team is expected to probe, reads the CIAA statement issued on Monday.
The authority has also promoted public participation in its new operation to curb corruption in education sector which gets the largest share of total development budget of the country. The commission through its social network has also appealed public to register their complaint and help in reducing the anomalies in all development sectors.
