Faculty of Education students serve ultimatum to govt
Students of the Faculty of Education have served three-day ultimatum to the government to allow only the students from the faculty to appear in teaching license exam.
Last month, the Ministry of Education had amended the Teachers Service Commission Regulations, introducing the provision as per which students from other faculties could sit for teaching license exam.
According to the amended TSC Regulations, students who have completed their Bachelors’ in English, Mathematics, Science, Accounts, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Livestock and Agronomy also are allowed to sit for teaching license exam.
Bijaya Gautam, coordinator of the Joint Struggle Committee said that the MoE decision was not fair.
“The government should immediately scrap the decision and give priority to the students who have completed their Bachelor’s of Education,” he said.
The agitating students today submitted a memorandum to Teachers Service Commission’s Chairperson Uday Raj Soti and Education Secretary Bishwo Prakash Pandit.
The students have also demanded that the government make public the results of the teaching license exam held on February 28 and March 1 and announce vacancy for permanent teachers.
“TSC should be given constitutional status like Public Service Commission so that it could make its own decision and announce vacancy on time,” he added.
He added that the struggle committee was going to launch stern protest if their demands were not addressed within three days.He has also appealed other students and all other concerned to support them.
