Far-west schools' SLC show poor
Doti:It was a poor show by students in this year’s SLC exam in the far-west region. While the overall pass percentage is low, none of the students got through in 10 of the schools in the region.
According to data available at the Far-west Regional Education Directorate, of the 38,450 students who appeared in the examination, only 36.53 percent passed the “iron gate.”
“This year’s SLC result is very poor in the region as the authorities were strict during the examination this time around,” the acting chief at the regional directorate, Purna Shah, said.
The directorate said that among the 10 schools that completely failed, five are from Doti, two each from Dadeldhura and Kanchanpur and one from Baitadi district.
“It is a shame as the SLC result in five schools was nil this year,” assistant District Education Officer of Doti Navaraj Bista said. According to him, no students got through the exam at Netreshwori and Bharatoli schools in Baglekh, Kadamandu Secondary School in Kadamandu VDC, Sunadevi Secondary School in Ladagada and Durga Secondary School in Gairagaun.
However, the Talara-based Bhageshwori School witnessed cent percent pass results this year. “We are elated with the result of Bhageshwori school,” Bista added.
All fail in night school BIRATNAGAR: The one and only night school in Morang disttrict, the Mahendra Secondary School saw none of its students passing this year’s SLC exam. The school administration said that of the 23 students of the school who appeared in the exam, 13 of them can sit for the supplementary exam.
“The result was nil for the second consecutive year. Eleven students had passed the SLC exam last year under the supplementary exam,” said teacher Dipak Dahal. Most of the students enrolled in the school are labourers and hail from poor family background.
