Fee monitoring panel fails to meet deadline
Kathmandu: The Plus Two college fee monitoring team, formed by the Department of Education, has done nothing even after deadline for completing the tasks is over, it is alleged.
The 11-member team led by the DoE director Dilli Ram Rimal had visited 15 colleges on July 26 and 27. The entire jobs of monitoring, fixing fees and recommending for implementation have been shelved.
During the visit, they only collected pamphlets and brochures of the colleges and observed the college environment and infrastructure.
The monitoring panel had been formed on July 10, with the plan of completing the tasks by mid-August, amid accusations that Plus Two colleges were cheating students with exorbitant fees.
The colleges, particularly the newly established ones, were accused of running aggressive media campaigns for attracting the students.
“Co-coordinator Rimal has shown no interest to continue the task despite our requests,” said Suprabhat Bhandari, a representative of parents for the team.
With no tangible progress made even after the expiry of deadline, it seems that the panel was formed more for appeasing public than to bring expected results.
Talking to this daily, one of the members of the team blamed the team leaders and government officials for not doing their job.
It is also alleged that the team has not carried out the planned work of monitoring in 10 colleges in the Capital.
