Fifth ECAN education fair starts Thursday
A four-day education fair, organised by the Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN) and presented by The Kathmandu Post, is slated to be held from August 18 to 21.
The largest international educational fair in the country, to be organised at Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall in Kathmandu, will be managed by The Event Organizer and Manager of Kathmandu Exhibitions.
National universities, colleges, educational clubs and associations, recruitment agencies, educational loan providers, abroad study consultancies, training institutes and psychological counsellors will be participating in the 5th ECAN fair. Also, Nepali universities and colleges are set to exhibit their strengths to students with an aim to convince them that Nepal can provide equally good education.
At the event, students and parents can directly talk to education consultancies for abroad study opportunities and also learn about colleges in Nepal and what they have on offer. “The event will not only help students get admissions to foreign universities but also impart knowledge about the procedure and requirements for going abroad,” said Deepak Gurung, acting president of ECAN .
According to ECAN officials, the event intends to act as a forum to bring together Nepali consultants where they can interact with students, parents and international academic institutions. It can also assist policymakers, researchers and other stakeholders concerned with recent developments in higher studies abroad. Also, students can get information about preparatory classes, bridge courses and scholarship schemes offered by colleges and universities abroad. The fair will help them learn about the channels adopted currently in Nepal for abroad study, application procedures, academic atmosphere in foreign nations and their educational system as well as rules and regulations.
ECAN counsellors will advise visitors on study courses available in the US, the UK, Australia, Germany, India, Ireland, Switzerland, the Philippines and China, among other countries. Apart from Nepali colleges, representatives from 25 Indian, six Australian, two Japanese and two English colleges will have participation in the event.
The fair will have 125 participants from domestic and foreign colleges, universities and consultancies, diplomatic missions and business institutions. The event aims to attract 120,000 visitors.
The event will be open from 11 am to 6 pm. Entries are available for Rs 15, however individuals can get free passes and other prizes by sending SMSes to 5005 or visiting www.educatenepal.com / www.ecan.org.np websites.
