Fresh lot of teachers in govt schools from new fiscal
BHAKTAPUR: The government is all set to send fresh teachers to community schools across the country from new fiscal year.
The community schools are going to get new faces for teaching students after long time as the Teachers Service Commission recently completed selection of fresh permanent teachers through open competition.
After a gap of 17 years, last year TSC had announced vacancy for teachers in 13,059 vacant positions — 2,286 in secondary level, 2,793 in lower secondary level and 7,980 in primary level. The exams were held in May, 2013 in 1,847 centres across the country where more than 400,000 applicants appeared in the examination.
According to Nepal Education in Figures-2013 prepared by the Ministry of Education, there are 34,782 schools — 29,272 community schools and 5,510 institutional schools across the country. Same report states that currently there are 205,125 teachers working in community schools and 79,274 teachers working in institutional schools.
Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Spokesperson, TSC, said they have already announced the names of the people who passed the exam for permanent position of teacher in secondary level and lower secondary level and further process for their appointment in the schools will be executed soon.
Last year, TSC had announced vacancy for the teachers at various levels in coordination with 75 DEOs. “Since the vacancy was announced as per the demand from the DEOs, the recruitment process will also be managed by the same after the recommendation from TSC,” he added.
As per the education regulation, the new entrant selected by TSC has to be appointed by the DEOs within a month of recommendation from the former.
He said the TSC wanted appointment of new teachers at secondary level and lower secondary level from new fiscal year, stating that recommending all level teachers to the DEOs would delay the appointment process at higher level.
He also informed that TSC had already begun publishing the result of primary level teachers from this week.
According to Bhattarai, TSC is planning to complete dispatching the recommendation letters of secondary level and lower secondary level teachers in the first phase.
However, the result of interview of primary level would also be announced by first week of July and recommendation letters will be
dispatched to the respective DEOs simultaneously.
